Representative Experience
Kristen counsels employers on a variety of employment law issues, including auditing practices and procedures for compliance with state and federal law; developing and implementing policies and procedures, including employee handbooks; drafting employment, separation, confidentiality and non-competition agreements; assisting with day-to-day employment law issues and training managers and supervisors on employment law issues.
She also defends employers in both state and federal courts and administrative forums, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in cases involving claims of wrongful discharge; discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion or national origin; workplace harassment; wage and hour issues and leave issues. Kristen also helps employers enforce confidentiality agreements and agreements prohibiting unfair competition.
Her practice also includes assisting employees in reviewing and negotiating employment, separation and non-competition agreements and representing businesses in a variety of general commercial and professional negligence litigation matters.
Kristen is listed among Business North Carolina's Legal Elite in the area of employment law (2006, 2009, 2010).
