Raleigh NC – Manning Fulton attorney, John C. Dorsey, has been named a recipient of the North Carolina Bar Association and Business Leader Media Power of Justice Award.  The award honors attorneys who have made notable pro bono impacts in the community.

John was nominated for the award because of the time he dedicates on a regular basis to providing legal support to The 200 Club of Wake County.  John’s involvement with The 200 Club dates back to June of 2000 when he handled the legal work of setting up the non-profit corporation.  In addition to his role as legal counsel, he serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the organization and sits on the Board of Trustees.

John is a corporate attorney and works with clients in the areas of ERISA and employee benefits, corporations (including professional corporations), estate planning and administration, and tax. 

About The 200 Club of Wake County

The 200 Club of Wake County was formed as a non-profit corporation in June of 2000. Its mission is to provide immediate funds to the surviving spouse and children of public safety officers who lose their life in the line of duty. The impetus behind The 200 Club came from the parents of a Raleigh police officer killed in the line of duty in July of 1997. That same year North Carolina tragically lost seven public safety officers killed in the line of duty, two of whom were from Wake County. There was a tremendous outpouring of concern for the lives lost and many people expressed a desire to do something to show their support for the families. The 200 Club provides the community with that opportunity.

No one acting on behalf of the organization - member, officer or director - receives any benefit or compensation. All members serve in a voluntary capacity and receive as their reward the satisfaction of helping to provide for the families of fallen heroes.
