Raleigh, NC – Six attorneys at Manning Fulton & Skinner, P.A. have been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© 2008.

John B. McMillan; Charles L. Fulton; Barry D. Mann; Michael T. Medford; Samuel “Ted” Oliver, Jr.; and W. Gerald Thornton are among the lawyers to be named in the annual listing.

McMillan has more than 35 years of experience representing clients before the NC General Assembly.  He also has significant experience representing landowners in condemnation cases brought by state and local governmental agencies. John currently serves as Vice President of the NC State Bar and President of the UNC School of Law Alumni Association.

Mike T. Charles L. Fulton, Barry D. Mann and Samuel “Ted” Oliver, Jr. are all recognized in the area of Real Estate.  Each of these lawyers has been selected previously by their peers and named in Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite as the top real property attorney in North Carolina.  As one of the first lawyers in North Carolina to specialize in real estate, Charlie Fulton has a wealth of experience to draw upon in retail, office and residential matters and is celebrated for his pro bono work.  Barry Mann represents commercial real-estate developers and investors through the phases of the development of a variety of commercial properties extending from land acquisition and financing to the construction, development, leasing, management, and sale of projects.  Ted Oliver’s practice is centered on commercial real-estate acquisitions and real-estate finance. He represents public and private clients in land acquisitions, entity formation, finance, sales and purchases of developed and undeveloped properties, and general business and development issues.

Recognized in the area of Tax Law, W. Gerald Thornton has helped businesses of all sizes grow through strategic tax planning, employee benefit planning, and a wide variety of merger and acquisition transactions. He also has extensive experience in helping individuals preserve their assets through tax and estate planning. Thornton served as an attorney for the Office of Chief Counsel at the Internal Revenue Service from 1967-1970.
