Representative Experience
With more than 26 years of experience in civil litigation, Robert S. Shields, Jr. focuses his practice primarily upon the area of medical negligence which involves the defense of physicians and hospitals. He also has extensive experience in legal malpractice defending attorneys around the State. His experience includes litigation in the Courts of Eastern North Carolina.
After practicing with Manning Fulton & Skinner from 1981 to 1991, Rob relocated to New Bern, North Carolina where he practiced with the medical malpractice firm of Harris, Shields, Creech and Ward. He rejoined Manning Fulton & Skinner in January of 2007.
Rob has been selected for inclusion in the 2007 & 2008 edition of North Carolina Super Lawyers in the area of Personal Injury Defense: Medical Malpractice.
Rob graduated with a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1978. He received his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1981.
He lives with his wife Virginia Shields and has four children, Robert, Claude, Ryan and Rachel.
