Charlie Steel joins the Manning, Fulton & Skinner, P.A. Durham office with a wealth of experience in tax controversy and planning matters, estate planning, and business transactions.
He has served as chair of the NCBA Tax Section Council for 2002 – 2003, a past president of the Durham County Bar Association, as well as past director and president of the Fourteenth Judicial District Bar.
Mr. Steel is a member of the Planning Committee of the J. Nelson Young Tax Institute at the University of North Carolina School of Law and the executive committee of the North Carolina Conference of Bar Presidents.
An active member of the Durham community, Charlie is the current Chancellor at Saint Philips Episcopal Church and on the boards of directors of the Episcopal Housing Ministries. Charlie is a member and past president of the Durham Rotary Club and also volunteers his time and services to the Wills for Seniors Program.
Charlie holds an A.B. from Davidson College, a J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law and an LL.M. in taxation from New York University. He is listed in the “Red Book” of bond lawyers, has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America© and recognized by Business North Carolina magazine as one of the “Legal Elite.” Martindale-Hubbell has rated him an AV attorney, the highest rating available.
