Press Release from Apex Chamber of Commerce Regarding Awards Banquet NEWS RELEASE Contact: Angela Bianco (919) 362.6456 or join@apexchamber.com For Immediate Release 10/25/2013 Apex Chamber of Commerce Lays Out Vision, Honors Businesses at Annual Banquet The Apex Chamber of Commerce has recognized two local businesses for their outstanding commitment to the Apex community, and celebrated three citizens following years of service and stewardship to their town. The Awards were presented at the Chamber’s Annual Awards Banquet on October 24th at Prestonwood Country Club. The annual event is a highlight for Chamber members, and this year it included an elaborate dinner and trivia provided by Team Trivia. The ballroom came alive with laughter and networking as Town and business leaders united for a night of fun and fellowship. Incoming Chairman Nicole S. Loeffler laid out the Apex Chamber’s vision and mission as the organization moves into the 2014 year, placing emphasis on goals such as promoting members’ business development, enhancing member education, facilitating economic development, and being the advocate, voice, and source of information for local businesses. Dawn of Health Chiropractic was the recipient of the Small Business of the Year Award. This award is presented to a small business that represents the town in its support of both the community and Chamber initiatives. Dawn of Health Chiropractic’s Dr. James and Kimberly Strunk were recognized for their continued partnerships with local businesses and commitment to the Apex community. The award for Large Business of the Year was presented to Spring Arbor of Apex, a senior living community whose Apex location has served as a local steward through an extensive volunteering program, focus on the personal growth and fulfillment of their residents, employee wellness programs, and their consistent efforts to partner with other businesses in Apex and surrounding areas. David Newton of The Small Business Benefits and Services Mall, was awarded Ambassador of the Year. The Apex Chamber Ambassador Team works diligently to welcome new members, assist them in making connections and utilizing Chamber benefits throughout their membership, and Newton was praised for his unfailing commitment to his responsibilities on the team and within the business community as a whole. Capping off the night was the Citizen of the Year Award, presented to Laura Gaddis, and the Louis C. Smith Hall of Fame Award, presented to inductee Jack Lewis, Retired Police Chief with the Apex Police Department. Gaddis was recognized for her longstanding commitment to Alzheimer’s research after her mother’s battle with the illness, including raising more than $1,600,000 through her store, Guardian Angel Thrift. Lewis was recognized for his service to the Apex community and his leadership within the Apex Police Department during his tenure there. Outgoing Apex Chamber Board Members were also recognized at the event. Outgoing Board Members are: Tim Fasolt (EMC Corporation), Roy Tempke (Rex Healthcare), Mark Wilson (Cambridge Village), and Jeff Hasting (Hastings Farm Supply).   The Annual Awards Ceremony is a time for both celebration and reflection on the year, and an opportunity to explore goals and challenges for the upcoming year.
