Since joining Manning Fulton upon graduating from law school almost 20 years ago, Judd has represented clients ranging from Fortune 50 companies to closely held businesses in a wide variety of litigation matters ranging from bet-the-company lawsuits to the negotiation of complex agreements. Thanks to invaluable mentoring from senior partners such as Howard Manning, Sr., John McMillan and Mike Medford, coupled with his tireless commitment to his clients and their issues, Judd has developed a reputation as being one of the most trusted and respected litigators in North Carolina. His temperament, passion, and approach to dispute resolution have contributed to his successes both inside and outside the courtroom.

When not working, Judd can be found spending time with his wife and three young sons enjoying North Carolina’s many treasures, and participating in various community-based activities and endeavors (all while continuing his quest to locate the world’s finest India Pale Ale).

About

With a litigation practice that extends well beyond the Triangle area, Judd represents a wide variety of clients in complex business, franchise, real property, and construction litigation matters, as well as condemnation/eminent domain matters. In addition, several of Judd’s clients utilize him as their outside general counsel.

Judd regularly represents his clients in the state and federal courts of North Carolina and beyond, as well as arbitration forums and administrative agencies. He also has significant experience representing taxpayers in property tax appeals before County Boards of Equalization and Review, the North Carolina Property Tax Commission and the appellate courts of North Carolina.

Judd was recently named by his peers and clients as a “Local Litigation Star” by Benchmark Litigation 2018, the definitive guide to America’s leading litigation firms and attorneys. Benchmark Litigation is the culmination of extensive annual research, including comprehensive interviews with litigators and their clients, an examination of recent casework, and solicited professional and peer reviews. His status as a “Local Litigation Star” is a recognition by colleagues, clients and the broader market that he is “consistently reputable and effective,” and that he “plays a vital role in Manning Fulton’s bench strength.” In addition, Judd is honored to have been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in the areas of Real Estate Litigation (2013-2017), Commercial Litigation (2013-2017), Land Use and Zoning Litigation (2013-2017), Construction Litigation (2012-2017) and Construction (2015-2017), to have been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Benchmark Litigation (2010-2017), named as a North Carolina Super Lawyer as one of North Carolina’s top rated Business Litigation Attorneys (2014-2018), Construction Litigation Attorneys (2018) and General Litigation Attorneys (2018), as well as a Rising Star (2009-2013), and to have been recognized by Business North Carolina Magazine as one of North Carolina’s Legal Elite in the areas of Construction Law (2006, 2008-2018), Business Litigation (2007-2009), Litigation (2013, 2014, 2017), and as one of North Carolina’s best lawyers under the age of 40 (Young Guns 2007-2012). Finally, Judd holds Martindale-Hubbell’s highest “AV” peer review rating.

A big believer that members of the legal profession have an obligation to give back to the communities in which they work and live, Judd currently serves on the Tenth Judicial District Grievance Committee, and is the former Chair of the Board of Trustees of Follow the Child Montessori School, as well as a former member of the North Carolina Rules Review Commission and the Carolina Ballet Board of Directors.
