Dieter Mauch

Mr. Mauch specializes in civil litigation. Some of the services he offers include business litigation, commercial real estate litigation, employment law and education law. He is admitted to United States District Court for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of North Carolina, and is admitted to all North Carolina state courts. Additionally, he is admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Prior to joining Manning Fulton, Dieter established a strong reputation through his prior legal experience. He commenced the practice of law in Durham in 1989 with the firm of Newsom Graham Hedrick & Kennon PA. He practiced with Newsom Graham from 1989 to 2003, becoming a partner in 1995. In 1994-95 he served as Instructor in Research and Writing at the University of North Carolina School of Law. From 2003 to 2007 he was a partner with the Durham firm of Pulley Watson King & Lischer PA, before rejoining his former partners in 2007 under the current firm name of Hedrick Murray Bryson Kennett & Mauch PLLC.

Mr. Mauch is a member of the Sixteenth Judicial District Bar, the Durham County Bar Association, and the North Carolina Bar Association. He is active in civic organizations including the Durham Sports Club and Rotary Club of Durham, for which he has served for a number of years as the Chair of the Community Service Award Committee. He is a Paul Harris Fellow. He has served on various boards including The Carolina Theatre of Durham. He has been active in the Durham County Bar Association for many years, having served on its Grievance Committee and also as a director beginning in 2012. He served as President of the Durham County Bar Association from 2019 to 2020.

Mauch was born in Germany in 1959. He grew up in Hickory, North Carolina, and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1982 with a BA degree in Political Science and Economics. He received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) at the University of North Carolina School of Law, from which he graduated in 1989. While in law school, he participated in the Holderness Moot Court Program and served on the Moot Court Bench. He was a member of the Philip C. Jessup Cup International Moot Court Team and recipient of an American Jurisprudence Award in Contracts.

Mr. Mauch currently serves as an arbitrator for the Durham County District Court. He has an abiding interest in assisting the legal community to maintain the highest standards of professionalism within its ranks. His dedication to excellence in the legal field is recognized by his 2024 distinction from Martindale-Hubbell and Mauch’s extensive experience, academic achievements, and distinguished reputation make him a valuable asset to Manning Fulton and our clients.
